The doctorate
The Doctorate (PhD)
The Ph.D. is a postgraduate training course that offers a highly qualified specialized preparation through the strengthening of the scientific foundations and the development of the skills necessary to carry out high-profile research activities.
Access to Doctoral Programmes is through a competition, reserved for those in possession of a Master's degree, a degree from the old italian system or an academic qualification obtained abroad and recognised as suitable.
The PhD programme lasts three or four years and concludes with a public discussion and the award of the PhD degree.
Università Cattolica organises its PhD programmes within the Doctoral School, which coordinates educational, cultural and interdisciplinary activities and manages the joint activities of the courses.
Università Cattolica is also a member of the Council for Doctoral Education of the European University Association (EUA-CDE), the largest European network in the field of PhDs, with over 260 universities and institutions working on topics related to doctoral training and research training in 36 countries.
